Description

The last one in the series (for now!) by the great :iconavionetca:

Rhalia Jinsari models the 'Able Hunter' outfit from Knights of the Old Republic (which is kind of a recolour of the other Hunter outfit with a  hood...)

(and yes, Rhali’s ethnicity seems to depend a lot on who draws her!  I think the trope is called ‘Ambiguously Brown’… For the record, I think the artwork by :iconradprofile: is how I see her. Her player says she’s supposed to be a light-skinned black girl, with R&B star Rihanna Fenty being a possible model for her...)

“I turn my cheek, music up,

 And I'm puffing my chest

I'm getting red in the face,

 You can call me obsessed

It's not your fault that they hover,

 I mean no disrespect

It's my right to be hellish -

 I still get jealous!

 ‘Cause you're too sexy, beautiful,

 And everybody wants a taste.

 That's why… I still get jealous…!

 You're the only one invited

I said there's no one else for you…

Cause you know I get excited

 When you get jealous too…!”

Nick Jonas, ‘Jealous’

The Seeker, Rhalia Jinsari, the self-proclaimed ‘Master’s Favourite’ and the mother of his young child.   Rhali was born on Dathomir about 23 years ago, to a mixed zabrak and human tribe on the vast southern continent, the Clan of the Singing Mountain.  Neither were native to the planet, and their tangled oral  histories spoke of ‘chariots of the stars’ and ‘star-gods’ who brought them to the lush, isolated world in ages past.

As a young child, she was haunted by nightmares of Alderaan’s terrible demise, an unimaginably distant event that none among the tribe could possibly comprehend.  But it marked her as being touched by the spirits, favoured by the ghosts of the ancestors. The girl grew up swiftly, supple and limber, and she trained as a huntress as well as taking lessons from the shamans of the tribe.   She possessed good accuracy with the bow and spear, hunting prey and gathering food for her nomadic people.   In time, she undertook her Vision Quest, making the pilgrimage to  the sacred places; the Blue Deserts, the Frenzied River and Misty Falls.  There, the spirits taught her the things she needed to know – the things the mortal shamans could not.  The spirits of the air guided her aim, and the ghosts of the whuffa-wyrms taught her sacred powers of healing and life, the ways of mending and breaking the flesh.  She fasted and took sacred herbs, leaving her body for long days to float free in the dark infinity, to witness other worlds and distant cultures.  Their wars were not her concern, she knew… At least, until the Jedi came.

Like the gods of ancient times, they came in silver boats from across the Dark Infinite.  They claimed the ways of the tribe were wrong, and they must be taught new ways.  Some capitulated; for they were mighty warriors and  wielded terrible spirit powers and weapons of pure light.  Some fought. These died.  Others fled;  and the teenage Rhali helped to lead them into the Unknown Places and Forbidden Lands.  Many were the harsh trials they faced here,  and they came across other tribes, others pushed from their ancestral lands by the Space Gods.  A long exodus, during which many died, but they came at last to the lands of the Nightsisters, the descendants of the Children of Allya.  Here, she gazed upon the Book of Laws, and witnessed the Great Beasts.  She felt a kinship with the ways of this matriarchy, for they too were touched by the spirits as she was.

A great council was held, and for the first time in centuries, the Nightsisters came together to speak.  It was decided that those who came from Beyond were too strong, that the ways of the tribes could not persist.  Defeat was inevitable, but all agreed they would fight to the death regardless. It was better to honour the spirits and join them in death, than turn from the true path.  Rhalia to wanted to stay and fight, but there were some among the Space Gods who wished to help them.  She was chosen, as finest among the promising hunters, to accompany one of the  Nightsisters, and leave their ancestral homeland to seek allies in the Dark Infinity of the Beyond.  It hurt her to leave the lands of her youth, but she had a task now.  She would learn the ways of the Great Beyond, and perhaps might one day return to save her people… or avenge them.

The ways of the Great Beyond – bizarre species, alien worlds, ancient magicks and strange technology – fascinated and intrigued the young huntress.  She learned all of their ways she could, from the flying of their star-boats and the weapons that fired liquid lightning and brought death from afar.  She understood that the spirits intended her to travel far and wide, to learn from the spirits and ghosts of distant worlds.  One day, she would return, but for now, unimaginable vistas of new wonders were open to her.

She was brought to the Master to learn, and she was smitten with him immediately.   His power, his presence, was majestic, and she knew that she needed to be his favourite, the one to carry his heirs and bear his progeny.  She would fight anyone to achieve her aims in this.  Among the other students, she found friends, and rivals, and sometimes both.  There were many lovers – even those from other tribes like hers, marked by the spirits – but the Master was always the best of them, and she was his favoured, as she should be.  It could be no other way; the spirits decreed it.

Rhalia has trained diligently with the Followers of the Temple for some time, and  has lost much of her rustic upbringing and some of her tribal ways.  She takes great pride in her upbringing, wearing the talismans of her people, and those other tribes she met along the way – and their markings are written into her flesh.  But she wears new markings also; the five-pointed star on her belly, swelling with his child.  She understands that the Singing Mountain was the beginning of her journey, not its end.  The spirits always intended this to come to pass, and so she gladly learns the lessons of this new horizon and makes its tools her own.

Rhalia is a typical zabrak in some ways;  natural instincts honed to a razor edge, sensual and passionate.  She naturally leans to her Dark Side – not because she is cruel or mean-spirited, as she is a pleasant companion as long as you do not rub her up the wrong way.  But her natural instincts are very strong; her wild emotions and passions flow far easier for her than order and balance.  There is a  time for that… but introspection is not the path the spirits gave her, and she is a wild nature child at her heart.

Rhali is an energetic and social creature; she loves to mate and flirt, the scents and sensations of new bodies and lovers.  She gets on well with the others in the Followers, although she is naturally competitive and precocious.  She respects the Nightsister, Shasheva, although she knew nothing of her kind until her tribe were displaced.  Her greatest friend – and rival – is the Togruta, Ashara Tey, with whom she shares a passionate relationship, whether making love or war.  Ashara loves to manipulate and provoke the simple tribal girl, and she loves the responses she gets when she’s sufficiently prodded.  Rhali sees her friend as the perfect measure against which to test herself, in or out of bed.  Some of the others see her as delusional or hubristic, especially the ‘Master’s Favourite’ part, and the smugness she feels from bearing his child.  Master Lars can’t quite allow himself to show favourites after all, but she is the only one to bear his child, and she is undeniably closer to him than most.

Rhalia’s Light-Side Morality is Pride; she takes an honest pleasure in her tribal ways, in her mastery of the spirits, in her understanding of the Great Beasts.  She pushes herself to be the best she can, and never accepts anything less from herself or others.  She is proud of her place at the Master’s side, her understanding of his teachings, and the beauty of their daughter-cub.  He may have many children in time, but hers will be the first and the best.   Her Dark-Side Passion is Jealousy – Rhalia endlessly measures herself againast others, and envies those who excel at her expense.  She also finds jealousy an incredible aphrodisiac – she feels impossibly turned-on watching her lovers with another female,  something Ashara Tey is always keen to help her with.   Restless, primal, instinctive and emotional, Rhalia favours her Dark Side the most.

In battle,  she commands powerful spirits that enable her to heal her friends, or lash at enemies with fire or lightning.  She can command air-spirits to dash foes – or even their ships and vehicles – against the ground in anger.  Spirits of wisdom and foresight guide her, allow her to see distant places, and these things that have yet to come to pass.  Others may call them by different names, but she honours the spirits in the manner of the old ways.

More prosaically, she has come to understand the weapons of this new world she travels – blaster rifles and grenades among them.  The Master sent her on a Vision Quest of his own, to recover an ancient weapon and learn its ways.   The simple metal rod brings forth blazing light, a terrible destructive power.  Part of her fears it, but she is determined to know its ways, and trains diligently to learn the arts of this ‘Light Saber’   as the Master wishes.   Finally, she still keeps her old hunting skills sharp, and likes to take her enemies using the bow, even if it is now made of strange new materials.  She has also learned the power contained in these materials -  arrows that can knock a man insensible, set him alight, blow him to pieces or bind him like a net.   She likes to play with her prey when she can, and the spirits would not have led her to this technology if they had not intended her to use them.

As a Seeker, Rhalia is a Ranger-type character, adept in survival and wilderness skills, in natural magicks and ranged attacks.  The career represents several non-Jedi Force traditions, including many tribal or primitive orders like the Nightsisters.

Her new talents as an Ataru Striker focus on her lightsaber skills and a fast, fluid fighting style.  Ataru experts employ acrobatics and speed over brute force, and  many practitioners  take their cues from the attacks of wild beasts.  It is a  good mix of defensive skills, quick manoeuvring, and spectacular flurry attacks like the Hawk Bat Swoop and Saber Swarm, overwhelming a foe with a volley of assaults.

Her Hermit specialisation draws from the time she spent alone in the wilderness, communing with nature and the spirits.   These focus on her survival skills, her natural instincts and her control of the Spirits to use magick.  They also greatly improve her bond with Sw’gemu, her Talusian Panther companion, allowing him to Harass or Menace her foes, softening them up for the kill when they fight together.

Finally, her Pathfinder talents recall the early lessons she learned as a tribal huntress.  They improve her swiftness, her senses and her survival skills as a scout and guide.  The spirits allow her to share senses and thoughts with Sw’gemu, to feel his pain and share injuries between them, to better shoulder the burdens of battle-damage.

Her unique signature ability, Unmatched Pursuit, allows her to unerringly track a foe, and prevent their escape no matter what.

One day, Rhalia intends to return to her homeworld, and bring the wrath of the spirits to the oppressors, to make the Jedi pay in blood for every tribe taken.  But the galaxy is wide and fascinating, and contains endless distractions for a feline mind like hers.  For now, she relishes the excitement of each day, the battles, camaraderie and rivalries of being part of a pack.  She knows the comfort of home and lair, her cub and her mates.  She knows she is the Master’s Favourite, and  that is enough.

That head... looks a lot like the one from the female character portraits on KOTOR. I recognize the hair.
